1. What Amla is

Amla is a personal expense-tracking app for Android. It reads the transaction SMS on your device, parses them locally, and presents budgets, insights, and history. It has no server component and no network access.

2. Early access

Amla is currently pre-release software (v0.1.x), provided for evaluation and feedback. Features may change, and (as with any pre-release software) you should expect occasional rough edges. The built-in backup and CSV export exist so your data is always portable and in your hands.

3. Not financial advice

Amla's numbers (totals, categories, forecasts, anomaly callouts) are reconstructed from your bank's SMS messages and your own edits. They are a convenience view, not a statement of account. Your bank's records are the authoritative source, and nothing in Amla constitutes financial, tax, or investment advice.

4. Accuracy of parsing

SMS formats vary by bank and change over time. Amla's hybrid parser aims for accuracy and lets you correct any transaction, but no automatic parser is perfect. You are responsible for verifying figures before relying on them.

5. Your data, your responsibility

Because your data lives only on your device, you are responsible for safeguarding your device and any backups you export. There is no cloud copy for us to restore. That's the point.

6. Acceptable use

Use Amla only on a device and SMS inbox you own or are authorized to use. Don't attempt to repackage, misrepresent, or redistribute the app as your own.

7. Intellectual property

The Amla name, app, artwork, and this website's content are the property of the developer. Your data is, of course, entirely yours.

8. Warranty & liability

Amla is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. The developer is not liable for losses arising from parsing errors, data loss on your device, or decisions made based on the app's figures.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as Amla approaches release; changes will be posted on this page with a new date.
